  • My dad loves to stew them, then freezes them in blocks (using the takeaway style tubs), then takes them out one at a time to add to porridge, muesli, yogurt or ice-cream.

My parents have a lot of fruit trees, so they really do have loads. They do the same with apples and various berries.
  • erm....
plum crumble!!!! (one of dads favourites) the mixture can be made and frozen to add to pies and crumbles at a later date, or even as a plum sauce to have with a simple sponge with custard or ice cream.

are you not a jam/chutney maker? they make lovely gifts for crimble even if you don't eat it yourself (I don't) and are usually easy to make. have made various plum chutneys, they can be Chinese spiced or with chilli and will go with a variety of meats and dishes. one of my families favourite jams in 'plumple', plum and apple, but this year I didn't get the free plums to make it cheaply enough.

do you know anyone to share them with, or even better swap them? I certainly would swap something for some

We're in the same situation, I've decided to make a plum sauce (like a pur!ed chutney recipe) to have with Chinese food! It's very intense so will boil right down, I hope!

Still got jam left from last year and loads of fruits in freezer already!

I love duck in plum sauce, works well with other meats too but duck and plum just seem to complement each other
  • Plums freeze beautifully when stewed.

But, with a glut of plums, one thing comes to my mind...PflaumenStreuselKuchen - a totally scrummy tray bake type of cake....

I never thought of stewing them. I too have some jam from last year.
I made some beautiful chutney this year, I changed the spices combination.
    Here's a plum tart recipe:

Just thought I'd let you all know, the Chinese Plum Sauce has turned out beautifully.

Had 650g of stoned plums, added about 150g sugar, 250 ml white vinegar, 2 level tspn five spice and 3 star anise.

Boiled it all off for about 40 mins, took out the star anise and blitzed it once cool.

It's given me 4 and a bit small pots (yoghurt pot?) which I've frozen down.

    It's absolutely gorgeous!
