I desperately need more exercise, and don't really have a budget for membership fees. Annoyingly, Snap has a web site that does not disclose their fees!

Does anyone know of a gym within a mile or so of the city centre that offers unusually good value for money?

You dont need a gym to do exercise.

Run, cycle (if you have a bike although you can second hand ones very cheap), swim (lancasters near the coast, although probably a bit too close to nuclear plants for my liking). Do weights with shopping bags, sit ups, push ups. Plenty you can do without going to the gym.

I can imagine there will be some parks locally that have some forms of exercise equipment (seem to be popping up everywhere)

Buy barbells and weights in Tesco. For a little money you can make quite good home training.

If you feel you NEED a gym, this is Martin's article on cheap gyms.
