Co-op isn't such good value when you take into account they only ever have one person serving and you need to work over to make up the time you spent queuing behind people doing their weekly shop.0

Just the usual for Sainsburys's gouging the money out of their customers by saying they now do a better cheaper sandwich than they used to. So why wasn't it cheaper before then. The more I live, the more I learn.

Good meal deal is from Boots. Wide selection of sandwich's, rolls or those pancake roll things (can't think what they are called, doh!), which you can add to from a wide range of drinks, with a packet of crisps or a pot of fruit.
All this for £3.30.The more I live, the more I learn.

Tend to prefer Tesco. For £3 rather than more than that you can get a pretty decent range of sandwiches (OK limited other choices but I'm not bothered about that), good range of snacks (at the moment I'm having Tyrells veg crisps most days which aren't cheap) and also drinks. Perhaps we're lucky having a Metro rather than an Express near work which probably gives us a wider choice - although sometimes the Express has options the Metro doesn't.
Measuring on saving is only valid if you'd spend that much ever on the item in question - I like a bottle of cold sparkling water - not some calorie packed weird protein smoothie so I'm not going to be saving extra by spending more in Co-op.Adventure before Dementia!0 -

This. Tesco also take into account not everyone wants mayo in their sandwiches or fancy fillings and cater for my tastes with their "just chicken" and "just ham" range.0 -

Boots meal is £3.79 in London.
I like Co-Op as you get NUS discount making it £2.93. The co-op doesn't include many sandwiches in the deal, but there are a large range of good filling salads.0 -
I like the Co op and Sainsbury's meal deals.
EDIT
Just read the article, looks like Sainsbury's is off my favourites list!0 -
Try Aldi, chicken and bacon salad at £1.69 is delicious. A cold coffee around 60p and choice of what ever pudding or crisps or whatever. A max of £3 will be much better than the other so called meal deals'.
Don't forget Lidl which have instore bakeries and then there's Gregs eye. There's so much competition don't settle for the rip off supermarkets who try and tell you what to eat!0 -
For me it's boots meal deal although only really do it on £1 o2 moments mondays. Even at £3.29 I still think it offers good value. I buy sushi and sugar free red bull, then either soreen slices or crisps.:money::rotfl::T0

Tesco Finest sandwiches aren't in their meal deal either.
Not having all the sandwiches etc in the meal deal isn't brilliant for sales as customers only will buy the ones in the meal deal. Noticed since the new range was introduced by Sainsburys, the number of non meal deal sandwiches etc in the reduced was shocking. Though down to 30-50p, I don't buy them as high in syns.
If all the sandwiches etc are in the meal deal, Sainsburys will sell more at full price including the drink and side. If selling in the reduced, they are only getting 30-50p for a sandwichThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
