Long Unemployment Gap

Can anybody help please?

I'm been unemployed for quite a while now & am planning to move to a new city. During the past year having managed to save some money due to some temp work I have to say I've been focused on looking for somewhere to live which due to problems finding a landlord who accepts HB this has been very time consuming & so far unsuccessful, & this has contributed to a fairly long gap in my CV. Then unfortunately in April I was diagnosed with vertigo which left me unable to look for work. I have now recovered sufficiently for me to start looking again for both work and somewhere to live.

So my question is what do I say to explain this gap in my CV which until I find somewhere to live is just going to keep growing! I can hardly say; "want to move to a new city but can't find a landlord who accepts housing benefit!"

And the reason I have been so focused on moving is I live in shared accommodation which is full of junkies & criminals & has been unbearable to say the least!

  • Could you not have found work where you are until you saved up enough to move?

Your reasons for not working seem rather fluffy.
