laptop for a child to use at coding club

I would like to purchase a laptop for my child to use at a computer coding club. I don't want to spend too much but would like enough 'stuff' on it so my child can get the most out of the club.

I would really appreciate any help/advice on this.

Thank you very much.

Why not ask advice from those running/already attending the club? It won't need much 'stuff' on it - just the capability to install a simple coding program, which virtually any laptop can do.

I agree, the best way to get advice on what to buy would be from the already running group.

  • I had a super duper one for my degree but this has recently passed away. As I have a laptop through work and only need a little one for evening web browsing, I purchased a HP one from Argos last week for only 150. It's simple, light and I would recommend.
  • Thank you all very much for your advice. I will ask when we next go. I just wondered if there were specific makes etc I should look out for. Hopefully I will purchase a laptop soon. £150 seems reasonable-thank you.

If the club is based around an online service, then the laptop itself needn't be particularly powerful.
