Shiny nose woes

Hello all
I am moderately new to make up. I have reached the age that a little powder and some mascara help me look a little more even toned.
However I am having a really big problem with nose shine.
I use the oil cleansing method – have very dark olive toned skin, very few wrinkles or lines. So all in all, nice skin.
I do however have pores that are humungous exclusively on my nose.
I have recently purchased (after extensive research)
Urban decay – B6 pre prep spray.
Garnier – standard moisturiser (no oil)
Est!e lauder – primer
Est!e lauder – double wear (worn with a very very very light coverage)
Urban decay – de slick, oil reducing setting spray
However come lunch time today I still have a glow on my nose akin to Rudolph’s! All the above promise a 12 hour shine free. Arrgh!
Any tips?

I don't have any tips for you but I do have the same problem - I can use a moisturiser for oily skin, a shine control primer, a mattifying foundation, seal it all with powder and still look like a Christmas bauble by lunch.
Have you tried blotting papers? I use them occasionally but find they tend to blot my makeup off too.
I will join you in awaiting for a solution!0 -

sorry the above post would only let me type one line...
I was hoping with all the extras a I bought that I could at least reduce the blotting to once a day.
To see no improvement was a little irritating especially as these products have all have great reviews! Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
I use Mac Prep & Prime Skin refined zone on my nose and forehead and then their Blot Powder and don't have to retouch until lunchtime, when it's only a little bit of shine on my nose. As I oil cleanse I only use moisturiser on my cheeks where I am drier, I don't moisturise my nose or middle of my forehead.
I find the refined zone great, it's clear and sets quickly on your skin, the best thing is Mac will put a little sample in a tiny pot for you to try at home for a couple of days. I love their powder too, it lasts ages, has a mirror compact and has really light coverage. The products are pricey, but they work and I only use one tube of the prep & prime a year as I only use a tiny bit. The powder lasts about 3/4months.
If you don't get dry skin on your nose then maybe try not using moisturiser there and see if it makes a difference"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux0 -
Charlotte Tilbury finishing powder. It's pricey but imo you get what you pay for. Combined with Smashbox photo finish primer. For me it lasts all day. Only place I use it is my nose and forehead but works wonders0

Gosh Tygermoth you have spent alot of money there. Im wondering if your kinda overtreating yur skin, no offence. I noticed a long time ago the more i cleansed and moisturised the more my skin reacted so heres what Ive been doin and its going great:. I clean my face with micellar water at night, scrub once a week. I use the new gel formula overnight masks that are becoming a genius product. When I get up a.m i spritz with some alcohol free rose water (alcohol dries skin and therefore bang...overproduction of oil) so take a look at your products? My face is usually lovely n plump n dewy due to the overnight mask so just a bit of eye cream after the rose water has dried off and then my foundation, usually gosh mineral powder or marks n sparks new all in one foundation. Ok so in a 12hr day I have to blot once or touch up once but its also to do with this humid weather!! grr. I also like the finishing powder from holland and barrett by beautiful me called dewy perfection. Less is sometimes more as they say. * Im a cruelty free shopper so hence the choices of products (but they work beautifully anyway)0

I have same issues; use a Barry M colour corrective primer (green), then I use MUA green corrector. Over the top I brush on Lily Lolo mineral foundation (in my colour). Works for me xx0

Does it matter? People who use a powder compact tend to powder their noses fairly frequenly.0 -
