Cheapest Brown Bread?

I'm asking because I eat a lot of sandwiches and bread, so wondered where is cheapest to buy in bulk to freeze? :money:

I don't mind value stuff.

I'm thinking it might be Aldi but I don't have an Aldi near me?

Asda smart price? Found it perfectly acceptable.

I always find plenty of the generic brown bread RTC for 34p at my local Sainsburys. Keep your eyes peeled for YS after 6pm, it freezes just the same.

I'm a firm believer in freezing bread myself.

If you prefer brown bread because it's healthier you need to be looking for wholemeal rather than just brown. I buy a small loaf and Allinson's wholemeal 400g is 2 loaves for 50p in Farmfoods. It's worth checking there for larger loaves too if you have a store near you. Otherwise try Iceland as they often do good value branded bread such as 2 for £1.50 large Kingsmill wholemeal.

Agreed - Cannot remember last time I spent the full asking price for bread.
Lately I have been buying loaves and bags of rolls for 9p from Morrisons ( but every shop is different - even within the same chain )

Aldi and Lidl both do a wholemeal standard size/shape 'soft loaf' for only 45p.

Better than the cheap basic stuff and other supermarkets standard loaf.

You really have not eaten Sainsbury's 45p loaf after 3 or 4 days then.

Most bread here is binned after 2 days at most, good bread seems to be the hardest thing to find now I really miss the local bakers that everyone had near by but are long gone now.
