Is that just a nice way of employer saying they are only looking for under 25's
Would you still apply?

I had wondered that myself.
I'd still apply though. You don't put your date of birth or age on your CV after all. If you're the right person for the job surely that must count for something.
Might be different for a formal application form though where I suspect it asks for DOB but surely they can't officially discriminate.0 -
I originally thought just after minimum wage changed it might be a mistake,
But I am seeing it more and more now.
No I don't put DOB on CV... Hate application forms that need personal info0 -
Maybe it's to not get the hopes up of U25s who apply thinking it's at a higher rate when it is in fact NMW.My Debt Free Diary

It's hopefully a mistake, given the recent rise - as otherwise they're in breach either way (NMW Act or age discrimination, unless they're a training provider for apprentices). Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0

Menial work, no mention of training or apprenticeship in any of them.
I assume they would be breaking some law....0 -
This job and all the jobs I have seen with the under 25 year old rate are all low end jobs...... So any one applying would probably expect it to be be minimum wage.
I don't know, some employers pay the over 25 NMW for everyone, regardless of age - or they used to at least; this was the case when I worked in an off licence when I was 18, I was paid the NMW of 21+
All I'm saying is that if they put the job up at £7,20 (from recollection?) then an 18 year old applying for it might expect to get £7.20 but if it's on at £6.70 an 18 year old would expect £6.70 and a 25+ would expect the relevant NMW. Of course, they could just say NMW as salary...My Debt Free Diary

Current NLW for 21-24 is £6.70. If that is still the advertised starting pay then it is potentially breaking age discrimination laws. I'm not sure who can be contacted to report it.0

I can only assume its lack of up to date info on minimum wage on their part.
I have just recently applied for a job advertising wage as £6.70
Will see what happens?0
