Cancelling a home heating oil order - cooling off period>

Hi Folks,
I joined a heating oil club last year with the hopes of getting the best price for home heating oil. I've used it once, but mostly I track the price through Cheapest Oil NI and order from the top seller.
As the oil price was pretty consistent I ordered with the heating oil club. Unfortunately the price they provided is 2p higher than what is on Cheapest Oil. I went back to the club owner who informs me that they consider the order to be binding with the supplier, however no money has changed hands.
Can I simply cancel the order under the 14 day cooling off period? I have emailed the supplier to ask for a cancellation.
I appreciate the work that the oil club is doing, but this is my winter fuel and 2p a litre does make a big difference!
Thanks!

Also want to point out that it wasn't like the price of oil dropped (though it did) the price they provided and the cheapest oil website on the day were cheaper.

As most people order 500 or 900 litres then you're saving £10 or £18 respectively.

Well within the realms of taking it on the chin i would have thought and not dicking people about

It was actually over £20 in terms of my order and the seller they chose is consistently one of the most expensive providers on Cheapest Oil.
Surely an oil buying club should be providing one of better deals and not one of the 5 most expensive, otherwise what is the point?

I agree. I know it's only £20, but what's the point of joining a club when you can get it cheaper yourself.

    I'd leave the club now.

    I have.
I agree with you, not much point in being part of it if I can get it cheaper from watching cheapest oil.com.
    Thanks.
I was just asking if anyone had ever cancelled a home heating oil order and whether the 14 day cooling off period applied, but the topic has diverged somewhat.
Don't suppose anyone has an answer? There was no reply from the heating oil company, but they haven't tried to contact me.
