    Hello Thistle

You seem to be doing really well with the eBay - much better than me. I have certainly lost all interest in it at the moment and desperately need to up my game as it's DS's birthday in 3 weeks' time and I have no idea how I'm going to fund it! Did the dining room yield any suitable eBay items?

Hope your throat is better soon. x

  • Thanks Smolly - I didn't end up having time to look for anything else to sell. I have a habit of underestimating how long things will take - after a couple of errands, walking Thistlepup, and a little trip to the supermarket, there was enough time left to make dinner and not much else.

Today Mr Thistle is off work today and wants to celebrate our anniversary a day late by staying in, drinking coffee and watching movies. I may list a few things on ebay, but I'm tempted to take the day off and rest. My throat is still sore and I'm still achy and tired. I don't feel any worse than yesterday, so hopefully this is as bad as it's going to get.

DS is coping pretty well so far at uni - he's made three friends who are taking the same course. He says he still likes his flatmates but all they want to do is drink and go clubbing, which he isn't interested in. I get the feeling he's a bit lonely in the evenings. I miss him quite a bit.

I got an email for a free lottery game, I suppose they are trying to entice you to keep going once the free one is gone. I won .25p, so that can go straight into the dresser fund.

Not much else going on today, it's grey and getting colder. I'm wrapped in a fleecy blanket and refusing to turn on the CH!

  • Aside from walking Thistlepup, all I've done is watch movies and shows with Mr Thistle. It's been nice, but I feel a little guilty about all the things I could have done in the time.

Tomorrow I shall have to start on the pile in the dining room...

Hi Thistle, don't feel guilty. It sounds like heaven to me! We all need to find time for ourselves - it's something I'm slowly learning at the moment.

Good luck with the dining room - I'm assuming this is your eBay pile? I will try and list some things on eBay tomorrow too. I'll aim for the huge sum of...... 3 things! Come back on here tomorrow if you can and let me know how you did! Xx

  • Thanks Smolly, let me know how you get on. I did enjoy the day 'off' but now guilt is compelling me to do something. I'd rather sit and read a book but I fear that sitting and reading books rather than doing something is the root cause of my problems.

The pile in the dining room is all sorts - things to put on ebay, junk, books, paperwork, bike parts - it's a disaster. I am going to start with the smallest area - the table in the corner where everything gets dumped - and see how far I can get. I often feel defeated - as soon as I clear one area, everyone decides that it would be a good place to dump even more stuff. Mr Thistle is the worst culprit, I've mentioned it many times but he still does it.

Our huge old printer is on the table as well, I don't think I can move it anywhere else as it needs to be plugged into the router. Unfortunately the router cannot be moved from it's present location unless we spend some money. The printer is outdated but very dependable (also a copier, scanner and fax machine) given to us by our old accountant. The ink refills are something like £10 for 20, so extremely cheap to run.

I'll just finish my coffee and make a start... :rotfl:

  • Don't feel too bad. Everyone needs time to recharge.

    Belated Happy Anniversary :)
  • Good luck with the pile! I have a coffee table pile, a bedside table pile... Things being on the floor drive me wild so tables become where things get left.
    Enjoying reading your diary :)

  • Thanks Pmo2 and Ab-saver!

I conquered the pile on and around the table. The best thing was that I didn't just move the stuff that was there over to another pile - I put it away where it belonged, put it in the charity box, or binned it.

There is a neat pile of boxes under the table filled with ebay items that are currently for sale. I have another two bags sitting next to me in the front room ready to be listed.

It's cheered me up no end, because when I look through the door I can't see the other, much bigger pile, I can only see neatness! (please ignore anything outside the window in our teeny yard - yet another area that I need to tackle)

All I can say Thistle is - WOW! Well done you! You really did have a big pile!

Now....when can you pop round and sort my table out? :rotfl:

No really - that is an amazing transformation. I have to confess to having done absolutely nothing with eBay today, but now having seen your photos you have spurred me on to get up and do something.

I have a 'table' too that collects things randomly. If we ever lose anything in our house we all go to the table first to see if it's under something! I'd love to be able to see the top of it too.

Take care and go and have a cuppa - you've earned it! x

  • Thank you Smolly! Unfortunately that was the small pile, you can't see the one about 100 times the size hidden behind the door. Still, I've made a start on the room and have strictly instructed Mr Thistle to keep his !!!! off the table and put his shoes on the shoe rack. I'm sure that I can finish the dining room well before Xmas. If I can raise the money and have the welsh dresser in place as well, that would be the best xmas present I could give myself!

I've filled out and posted paperwork and took Thistlepup on a little walk. Just sitting down now with a cuppa and feeling cheery because I managed to do something worthwhile.

I'm not going to get anything listed today, after my rest I'll make dinner and then it's off to band practice for the evening. According to my diary I only have Slimming World in the morning and my daughter's cadets in the evening, so I should have a spare minute or two to list some things. I also need to send off a song with a deadline of the 23rd, and pack a suitcase as I'm going to a guitar weekend on Friday morning and not coming home until Sunday evening. It's all paid for including food, so I am going to relax and enjoy myself as much as I can!

Hmm, maybe not much ebaying will be done tomorrow because I also want to cut and re-dye my hair... :o
