Hire Purchase Contract finished!

Options
It's taken since July 2014 about 150 phone calls, 20 emails and 20 complaints finally I have had my Hire Purchase contract terminated on grounds their breached the Sales & Goods Act.

I purchased a car back in June 2014 for £3995 with a HP Company (Hire Purchase) and literally within 2 weeks the car was back in the garage being repaired and so on. To the point that I was on the way to cornwall in July 2014 for a family holiday and it broke again this time the Turbo went (very pricey job).

So I called requesting the contract is cancelled I want to return the car etc and I got a laugh down the phone from Darren in After sales who said "You're not getting anything mate" any way to cut a long story short I had to go through the Financial Ombudsman at least 5 times about this company! I had a shopping list of faults: Brakes Failure, Turbo Boost Control Failure, EGR Valve Failure, Water Bottle and Radiator Failure to name a few.

2 months ago I finally may of found something as I established that the company was originally going to uphold my complaint and decided not to contact me as they assumed I wouldn't be interested!

So I pulled them up on this and told them they should do the right thing cancel the contract and take the car.

Well 2 weeks ago I got a final response from Melissa in Collections who agreed that they have made a hash of things and will cancel the remaining balance of £3150 of the hire purchase contract (The total amount was £7500) to mitigate any further repairs needing they will get all repairs done at their cost and let me keep the vehicle!

So needless to say I needed a massive glass of wine a sigh of relief and glad it's finally over! I have finally got this disgusting excuse of a HP Company out of my life! I won't name them to remain professional but it has certainly taught me a massive lesson in Hire Purchasing!

  • Well done to you, you get the award of the day for Persistent Consumer!

But no wonder many people give up, as the companies seem to hold all the cards and grind you down until you give up the chase.

I hope you enjoyed that glass of wine.:)

I was going to give up but when the Brakes Failed with my kids in the back and they had the I can't care less attitude that was the final straw for me and made a vow to keep going!
