Buying them not wearing them. I'm a bit unhappy with my over stuffed wardrobes and buying stuff I really don't need so I have donated a lot to charity and starting a year free of buying nothing new or used

There was a great idea on the tidying thread. Hang everything up with the hangers back to front. Only putting the hangers the right way around once the item has been worn. End of six months/year you get to rehome everything still hung back to front0

I have 1 wardrobe (large). Everything other than lingerie, sleepwear and swimwear is in there (so even t shirts are hung up). I have a fixed number coat hangers. The size of the wardrobe limits the amount and with the coat hangers I operate a 1 in and 1 out policy. If I buy anything new then something has to go.
It makes you think really hard before buying anything but doenst stop it completely.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving

I need to have a thorough clear out too; beautiful clothes that I will now never wear. I'm just a bit chicken that if I take everything out, the moths will take to them and they'll be no good for the chazzer.
Eta: just checked that moth season is spring - they just seem more evident to me because I have had my windows open at night over the summer. They do rather get attracted to lights.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

V4mp, clothes moths aren't the sort you see batting against the windows.
I have a very pared down wardrobe and have just had another purge, I have 8 dresses, 4 winter, 4 summer, 2 thick cardigans, 1 lacy summer one, 1 smart jacket, 2 pairs of leggings that go under the dresses when it's very cold. I don't wear, skirts trousers or jeans. I have 10 pairs of knickers and no bras. I'm hoping to persuade a friend of mine to knit me some socks as I can no longer see well enough to knit.
I have one pair of heeled shoes, 2 pairs of sketchers and 1 pair of rigger boots.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Well done, OP. Go for it!
I loathe clothes shopping, so it's easy for me to not do it iyswim.
I did purchase a pair of sandals from a charity shop, but they are specifically to replace another pair of sandals, which also came from a charity shop, which I have worn so much that they are literally falling in pieces.
I also bought a new dressing gown (in the Deb'hams sale, using vouchers from online surveys) again to replace an ancient (about 30 years old) one that was going in holes.
Other than those two items, I haven't bought anything else to wear in over two years. :money:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi good luck with your quest.
Since I've been doing the Marie Kondo tidying I've found I no longer want to buy things including clothes and home items , I have a way to go on the clothes front in terms of getting rid of things, even though i have got rid of tons! but really don't have the urge to buy, I didn't even look at the sales this year!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
I think I am a bit of an emotional spender when it comes to clothes. Although more online as I hate clothes shops and the frantic vibe about them. Over the last year I have become more interested in simplifying my life and I'm not comfortable with being a 'mindless consumer'Sealed pot challenge 1960
