I'm guessing you don't have kidsNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
Most of the bags I carry with me are thin cloth, probably polyester, that screw up into their own pouch - they are at least splashproof, strong, and if I get them dirty I pop them in the wash. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Every clothes shop I've bought clothes in since the 5p charge came in have asked me if I want a bag.
"Would you like a 5p bag?" is what I usually get asked.
Well, this was M&S.
Before plastic bags were popular, the shops used to use paper bags but they don't seem to do that either - I did ask the woman in Marks if they had a paper bag but she said (quite snottily) that they didn't.
I should add, that I wouldn't take the car out just to buy one thing, that purchase will have to wait. The (my) rule is not to go out in the car unless I need to go at least three places.
I can see that I'll either have to buy a new and bigger handbag to carry several bags, or carry a bag of bags with me lol. Perhaps shopping online will be the way to go after all if they really don't mind me ordering lots only to send most of it back (I'm not very good at shopping, so find it hard to get my head round that one).“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

I use my bags for life for all shopping, whether it's food, trousers or whatever. We went into town after work this afternoon and had two books and a tub of coleslaw in the same bag. Sorry, but I really can't see that it is a problem.0

I had a similar issue. I was putting my clothes into my already stashed carriers and then forgetting what carrier I'd put them in and obviously couldn't identify what shop by the bag.
I treated myself to myself to some trolley dolly bags when on offer. These can be washed.

I've also got a large tartan bag that I don't use for groceries picked up for £1 in New Look in a sale.
Buy yourself something suitable and allocate it to the use of clothes shopping.0 -

Just about to say this! I'm sure each shop would have bags even if they're not offered...stores aren't going to pass up on seem extra advertising!0 -

You can buy fold up bags with a clip attached so you can clip them onto your handbag (I sometimes clip one to the D-ring that the shoulder strap is clipped to) or sometimes the little pouch they fold (or scrunch) into has a drawstring and you can use this to attach it to the handle.

Go to Primark - their paper bags are free
It's only plastic bags that are charged for so some shops do paper bags - not just Primark although I've never seen a paper bag in M&S.
You might have to ask for a 5p plastic bag in M&S or elsewhere but they will give you one if you want one.
Why does M&S charge for carrier bags?0 -
Linda32 - do you never get food leaks? Or condensation from a container of cold food? See, this would be a big problem for me.
Ah well, it looks as though it's mostly me who has a problem then.it looks as though I'll have to make planned shopping trips for clothes and take some special bags with me then (I really can't see myself even remembering to take several with me every time on the off chance of making an impulse buy).
I'm amazed at the wonderful websites people find, with such amazing stuff! So many bags!!
jackieblack - good idea, I can sew some tiers onto the foldup bags I already have ( like a sort of handbag charm lol) (It's a new handbag, I don't need to buy another for about 20 years I hope.)
Upsidedown Bear - I didn't know that about Primark - I've heard of them, and it seems that there's a branch in a nearby town. That's something learnt.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️
