Scaffolding 'Tents'

Hi,
Has anyone ever had a cover put over scaffolding when having an extension done? We currently have a single storey extension to the side of our 2 bed semi and are having a 3rd bedroom built above which hopefully should commence next month. Our builder came round for a chat last night and said that the steels that have been designed to put in will mean that our existing ceiling will need to come down. The 2nd floor will have a slightly smaller footprint than the first due to the planning office being a pain in the a*se so we'll have a small lean to roof to the front and side of the house - hard to explain without a pic but basically when the upstairs floor/trusses are in they'll still be a void open to the elements and we don't particularly want our lounge getting soaked and the laminate getting knackered etc. Anyone any idea how much these tent type covers cost? The extension is roughly 4.5m x 4.5m. The builder is sending his scaffolding guy round to check it out for a price but i'm trying to get a ballpark figure in the meantime so I don't have a heart attack! Sorry for the waffle... any help appreciated.
[EDIT]
This pic probably helps to explain why it's needed...

Your existing lounge is the current single storey?
I think I'd put your laminate down as a loss already, tent or no tent!
The ceiling is coming down, the walls are going to be wrecked as a result. In all honesty, having the builders trying to protect your laminate is going to cost far more than new laminate. And the upshot is inevitable anyway, really.
Scaffolding up and over to protect something which is directly in the line of fire from rubble, plaster and builders trampling across it putting up new joists, plasterboard, plastering the ceilings before you even consider rain?
The cost is going to be additional to the scaffolding already needed to get the extension up, but I'd say at least £1000 over without really thinking hard about it. The fabric they use to cover it costs a small fortune and can only be used once, for fairly obvious reasons.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
Maybe this may help, this is the downstairs floorplan. You can see where the steels will be for the upstairs walls above my current lounge, where I have scribble red this will be open until the new lower lean to type roof sections will be put in place (sorry i'm not the best at explaining building stuff!).

I've edited my reply almost totally while you were replying to me. I didn't grasp it before.
Your lounge is going to be a full blown building site and renovating it has to be part of your budget.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

It certainly looks that wayI already know its going to be a full redecorate... i'm considering taking up the flooring and relaying once complete - maybe that's an option if I can take it up without damaging it. Everything will obviously be moved out of there and we'll turn the dining room in to a temporary lounge for half the time and the other half we'll be moving in with the in-laws as we'll have a new baby too... all great timing!
Thanks for your help.0
