Advice On Returning To Education Please

Good evening all,
I was made redundant from my job of six years a couple of months back and after much consideration I have decided to return to education.
I am a single parent to 2 children and I am currently in receipt of housing benefit, income support, and child tax credit's. I am starting an access to higher education course on Monday and have taken out an Advanced Learner Loan.
The college that I will be studying out are going to help me with my childcare costs. But after speaking to student finance England they have explained to me that because of the type of course I'm doing that is no other financial help available for me. This course is for a year and upon completion I am looking to do a further three year degree course and student finance England have explained that there will be additional Financial help available to help me for during these three years.
This first year is going to be a major struggle financially and I wondered whether anybody could offer any advice as to whether there is any other financial help out there available for me during this first year. I am so determined to do this and know I will get by regardless.
I would very much appreciate any advice anyone has.
Many thanks in advance.

Good on you for the determination but ultimately if no one comes up with a solution you may have to look at working long days at uni followed by a part time job to aid you.
If not on good terms with your childrens father then possibly time to repair some bridges?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
