  • Happy Friday people - even though I am on maternity leave I still look forward to Friday as it's movie night. We are watching Ratatouille later and having some caramel shortcake bars which Munchkin will help me make once we are in from the school run. Yum :D.

Weekend plans include my sewing workshop, swimming and hopefully only one shopping trip for food as I think I picked up enough to last the weekend. Should hit my 4 NSD target for the week so pleased with that.

Will let everyone know how the sewing goes - fingers crossed I don't embarrass myself :o.
  • Well this weekend was rubbish. :(

Started off burning my hand on the caramel whilst making the Friday night treats which ended up tasting foul so they went straight in the bin. Woke up on Saturday morning to find a text saying the sewing class was cancelled and I needed to re-arrange. Saturday night we were told we may both be redundant by Friday and today the lasagna I had been looking forward to all week was just too heavy and left me feeling bloated all afternoon.

Phew . . . sorry about the moan but sometimes getting it all out can help. I am off to find some chocolate to make myself feel better and hope that next week things will seem a little brighter. At least we should finally find out what is happening work wise so that we can make some plans.
  • Short post alert - Button has restored my positivity this morning - she managed a very wobbly crawl half way across the rug. I am taking this as a sign things will turn out fine.
  • Hi Moominmamma

Sorry to hear it's been a stressful weekend, hope you get some good news this week! I've just had a read through your diary and we are in a similar position to yourself in terms of trying to renovate the house as well as doing a few OPs. I will subscribe and cheer you along :)
  • Thanks FacelessNumber - Do you have a diary? If so, I will have a noisy through.

Nothing to report today - does anyone else feel like Christmas was ages ago? I asked to be paid on my usual payday so thought I wouldn't have this feeling but seems like it has been so long since I made an OP. I would like February to hurry up and get here - mainly coz it's my birthday which means cake. :D
  • Hi
I have only just started one so there are only 3 posts so far! Not much of a read!! January is a long month, this time last year we were in New Zealand which makes it even worse this year :(

Cake is something to look forward to though, I love cake :D
  • I'm so sorry you've had a rubbish few days :( you know you can always come here and offload, we are here to help if we can :)

    Well done button! X

  • Thanks both for popping by - sometimes just knowing people are there cheering me on makes me feel brighter. Mr Moomin is having meetings today to try and negotiate his future so fingers crossed. I feel I can't settle to things atm but by tomorrow all the uncertainty should be over.

Munchkin had his hearing test yesterday and it showed it was slightly lower than normal (the consultant thought his lack of concentration may have effected those results :rotfl:) so we will have to go back in 3 months for a repeat. Luckily the consultant referred us to his NHS clinic which although a bit of a drive (40 miles) means the next test will not cost anything and if he needs more grommets we wont have to pay for those either.

Button is doing well with her crawling - very wobbly but she is mega determined and so I am a very proud mama.

I am thinking we may get snow - it is so cold outside, could hardly turn the front door key after my walk this morning. It is very grey looking too.

Well that is probably enough rambling :D. Hopefully will have a positive update by tomorrow night.
  • Keep us posted.

I agree, it feels so much better to come on here and share troubles/worries/successes - I like to think that even if people aren't commenting on my diary, someone is reading sometimes! I will keep everything crossed for some positive news. Well done Button, there'll be no stopping her now! x

  • Well no real news - it looks like we neither me or Mr Moomin will be made redundant but they seem to have to sort what is happening with other people before they get to us. Although there will probably be no part time position for me to switch to on my return to work so it looks like I wont be going back now. The whole thing seems to be just dragging out now.

We had some bad news on Saturday, my mums eldest dog had to be put to sleep as he had a tumor and his whole body started shutting down, The vet was lovely though and after running the tests in the morning to confirm what was happening he let us take him home to see the other dogs, go for a walk, get some chicken and have lots of cuddles before having to take him back in the afternoon. I think this helped my mum to have those few hours with him but of course she is still very upset - she first held him when he was only 3 weeks old and had him 13 years. The problem with furbabies is we outlive them. :(

So I am definitely looking forward to February as January has been a crud month in the Moomin household tbh. Will be back this week with an action plan and a more positive attitude (promise!!!) :)
