PRE-student debt

Hey guys, (hope this is the right forum!?)
Ok.. I got a credit card about 5 years ago (problem starts) and was paying off £100 every month. The amount owed on the card went up to about £1800 a year ago. At which point I was made redundent (ouch).
I then hide from the debt and started college part time so I could go to uni(I'm 24 btw) and was claiming Job Seekers. I finally plucked up the courage to contact the credit agency and started paying £20 a month back.
I completed my course and i'm now about to start uni but i'm not sure what to do about my current debt. If I tell them i'm going to uni will they want more a month from me!?
I was planning on not telling them but they might get sus after 3 years if i'm still claiming job seekers!
Any advise?
Thanks Gremzilla

firstly, you can't claim jobseekers and study - after 3 years you WILL be caught. Is it worth it for the tiny amount of money you actually get?
What is your living situation? Reason I ask, if you can live at low cost, why not take out the maximum student loan you can and use it to pay off some of your existing debts? Ok you will still be in debt but student loans are very low interest and you won't have creditor hassle.
If this is not an option, all you can do is contact the card company and negiotiate paying back a smaller amount.
Whatever you do, make some phone calls and sort it out - don't pretend its not there! Total debt £21,000 :eek:Weight loss to date - 2 st, 2lb:j0 -
Thanks for the reply

sorry i'm claiming benifit now but wont be while i'm at uni but i don't know if i should tell the debt agancy that i'm moving from living off benifits to living off a student loan.0
