Have a joint mortgage offer from Natwest, received last week.
We are due to exchange contracts for a new build within the next two weeks (if all goes okay with searches..)
The build is due for completion end of October/beginning of November.

Before applying for the mortgage myself/partner were actively looking for jobs.
One of the jobs he applied for before the application is now been accepted and he has a further chat next week to see if he wants this particular role.

At this stage it's more of a query as we don't know the outcome as of yet...

If a job was offered before completion (as it would definitely be after exchanging contracts, not sure if this makes a difference) what effect would this have on our mortgage?

As although we want to further our careers, either of us want anything to effect the mortgage application and the joy of a new home!

Any advise would be really really appreciated!

You are supposed to make the lender aware of any changes to your circumstances that happen prior to completion. The lender then has to decide on whether or not they are still happy to lend you the money. I think natwest' stance is generally in the new job with one payslip...but you woul need to double check with them.

  • Hi ACG
Sorry to bother you again. Might seem like a stupid question...

If I were to hand my notice in before completion, but not leave/start a new job until a few weeks after completion, would this still have the same effect?

I think they would cancel the application or delay completion until you had one payslip - but in all honesty I have no idea.
