Payment break for maternity leave - NR

Hi All,
My husband and I have a mortgage with Northern Rock and I've just found out I'm pregnant.
I read on here somewhere that Northern Rock can/may offer 6 months payment breaks for maternity leave.
I've had a look on their website but can't find any info on this. I've tried calling but can't sit in a 20minuts queue.
Can anyone tell me if this is true?

i guess first off read the mortgage literature that came with your mortgage.
Not all mortgages have this inbuilt.
However yes they do offer that element in some of the products they offer,
I have a NR mortgage as well and believe that i can take a payment holiday but have had no reason to call upon it.0 -
Hi,
I am currently on my 5th month of a 6 month maternity payment holiday from Northern Rock.
As long as you have made 9 consecutive payments, you need to write to them and request a payment holiday, and enclose either a copy of your MatB1 form or birth certificate. I didn't take the payment holiday until I went on 6 months unpaid maternity leave, so it definitely made things easier.
They will then confirm everything in writing. ie, when your payments will start up again and what not.
Hope that helps,

I'm guessing knotty that today's not a good day to try and call Northern Rock ... they were No 1 news item ... you might be quicker emailing them the query? Congrats on pregnancy0
