Shoes rubbing - recommend please?

My left foot fits a 6 lovely, my right foot moves a bit in my shoe & causes blisters in shoes I don't wear very often.

I know there are new products out now to stop this, anyone got any recommendations?

Little plasters... Seems a pain but works a treat.

I had a couple of pairs of new trainers last year, because I walk a lot now, (have done since changing my lifestyle and eating habits, and have now lost 3 stone,) and for the first 2-3 months, my feet were red raw, so I just covered them in plasters.

Your shoes will break in eventually... But yea, plasters. :)
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

Left feet are generally bigger than right feet. Are they shoes that you can wear socks with? Try different thicknesses of socks. Can you put insoles in them? Friction causes blisters, you need to stop your feet moving about, shoes and boots should be a snug fit.

Plasters might work as suggested. I walk a lot, long distances, and I get blisters around my toes because of my bunions squashing them up. I pop them and cover them with germolene, and carry on and walk through the pain.

If they are fashion shoes I would consider giving them to a charity shop and buying some more which are more comfortable. Sore feet makes life miserable. I have given up altogether with fashion, my feet are priority, I have to feel comfortable, even if that means I wear trainers most of the time. I will not suffer for fashion.

Use an insole in the shoe that is too big.

No, they sell special things now, silicone things, like pads. But I think there are a few different makes - hence my query.

They are gabor leather heels & I have 3 pairs in different colours. No I don't wear socks with them & yes I know my foot is smaller, but as I have to buy a 6, I need a solution to a problem I encounter regularly.

I'm not sure what you mean about buying more comfortable shoes?
All my shoes rub on my right foot, because they are a tiny bit big on it - I can't increase my foot size.

I'll try that, plasters never work for me, the rub, rubs them off.

That's why I wanted recommendations for the silicone things.

I'll try any insole, any particular type?

How does an insole make a show that's a bit long shorter?
  • Could Shoe Sizers be any good? I've not tried them as my feet are the same size and I refuse to buy shoes that are the wrong size.

Or if you want/need to take up the slack from the other end of your shoe would Heel Shields be worth a go?

I think insoles (are meant to) work not by reducing the length, but the 'circumference' round the sole and toe box. As (nearly) all reference points on shoes change with every size change, even if just by millimetres, the few millimetres padding in the insole could be enough to make a difference, assuming ones shorter foot isn't a wider fitting.

I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about one particular pair of shoes, I didn't know you meant you had the problem with all your shoes. I just thought a different style might help.

Any heels with backs on do it.

Obviously toe posts are fine, no backs, sling backs (the back is adjustable (& usually a bit of elastic in the strap), boots - fine.
But all court style shoes rub.
  • I've found that those blister plasters, which are translucent and have a gel type filling, work quite well while they stay on. They do tend to become dislodged eventually, though. I've used Compeed, but the own brand supermarket versions are just as good.
