Anyone out there that can identify mushrooms?

Found this crop of interesting fungi on my lawn and think the majority are fairy-ring champignon? I think there is a different type at the top of the photo, slightly more orangey.

Don't want to run the mower over them if they would make a good mushroom soup for dinner tonight ;)

  • You're braver than I am if you'll eat that on the evidence of what someone on an internet forum says.

I went on a days mushroom course and I don't think id go foraging for them, while it was good I'm too much of a novice.
I think only a few types are fatally poisonous but many will give you evil tum.

I would not eat any mushrooms that were found growing wild. I once met someone who spent a week in intensive care because he found some mushrooms growing wild and the looked like mushrooms he had seen in the supermarket.

A money saving tip too far.

  • Ok, I spoke to a mushroomer (if that's the word). They are not champignons, but possibly Agrocybe. From the research I've done, some species are edible, some are poisonous, but don't know any more than that. So no, no eating for now as we're not 100% sure.

But they don't half smell wonderfully mushroomy!!! I can see why people are tempted to eat them.

Anyay, I've decided to have a go and cultivate some myself using damp logs similar to this.
