I'm in France in a couple of weeks.
I've read plenty of links about best beauty products, so I have a few ideas, eg I want to but some Avene cicalfate moisturiser , as I'll be near one of the " para-pharmacies " at a big supermarkets chain. I wondered if anyone uses any if these products regularly or could recommend any?

  • Both mentioned in the article, but Bioderma Micellar Water and Embryolisse cream are favourites for me. I'd be interested to know how much they are, I buy from Escentual and they usually have some discount codes available.

I've just come back from Paris. City Pharma in St Germain is the best place to buy from if you're there.

I bought 4 bottles of the 500ml Bioderma (they did get me stopped at Eurostar security but no problems) approx 15 euros for 2.
Effaclar Duo and K+ approx 9 euros
Two Klorane dry shampoo sprays - first time buying these and much better than Batiste approx 11 euros
Anthelios tinted face spf and UV face spray approx 11 euros
Anthelios body sun screen and after sun approx 15 euros
Nuxe Reve de Miel - approx 6/7 euros

I'll update the prices if I can find the receipt.

If you do go to City Pharma, have a list ready of what exactly you want. It is full of products and people so just browsing becomes a hassle. They also search your bags when you enter and leave.

The Nuxe Oil is much cheaper in the Pharma than the UK if you're interested in that. It was a big deal in beauty last year.

It is cheaper than buying in the UK if you're already there.

I'm not in France yet, but I'll keep you posted when I am.
When you say caudalie nuxe do you mean they do their own version of nuxe?

Sorry, it was a typo, that I have now corrected. Just Nuxe body Oil. Caudelie's version is called Divine body oil.

La Roche Prosay Serozinc is also a cult product worth nabbing if you're trying out different things. Though it isn't that expensive here either.

I went in the summer and City Pharma in St Germain was HEAVING. The shop assistants are really knowledgeable and if you tell them the kind of thing you're looking for they can recommend various products to help bit like an actual pharmacist. I bought the Embryolisse cream and Bioderma make up remover (not keen on this as it doesn't take off the makeup that well imo), Nux cleansing water (i found this better), claudalie products were selling well there and avene and la roche posay . Nuxe oil is about £6 if not a bit more cheaper there. Lenor Gray hair oil is recommended as a beauty buy, their soaps are recommended but you can buy these quite cheaply in the supermarkets. Biafine is also bought frequently (used on burns or as a very very rich moisturizer for very thirsty skins). I think the other posters have covered off everything else. TBH you can spend hours in there, the vitamin range is great and NUX and a few other Sun tan lotions with high SPF were flying off the shelves too. You name it they've got it. Enjoy x

I'm on France now, earlier than I originally thought.
I've not been able to match those st germaine prices, they are really cheap.
So far I've bought two cans of klorane dry shampoo for 14 euros, they do one for dark hair.
Embryolisse( this is the one I had the most difficulty finding) 17 euros.

I also bought a box of Cattier green clay , for face masks,250g , 3 euros.
A bottle of Hei Poa pure Tahiti monoi oil( you can use this us your hair it smells really summery, or as a body oil )
    7 euros.

Also I got a bottle of hydra bebe body lotion 7.50.
300ml, it comes in a dispenser. It's got a very subtle scent . It's for babies but french women use it too. :)

That's my haul so far. Not sure if I've saved , but I'll be looking at the esscentuals website in future.
