Company Van and Tax

I've recently started a new job with a small company van. I use a fuel card which pays for fuel for both personal and business use.

- How do I calculate what the impact will be on my tax taken and take home pay?

- Having looked on the gov.uk website, it's unclear whether the mileage / cost of fuel is used in the calculation at all... It appears to be a fixed amount regardless of usage. Can someone clarify?

Hope this is in the right place, thanks for your help in advance!!

Vans are indeed a special case because mileage and fuel is not used. Van are based on a fixed rate irrespective of engine, purchase cost, CO2 emissions or anything else that would apply if it were a car, eg: mileage

    - there is a fixed charge of £3,170 for tax year 16/17 for having full private use of the van to go anywhere you want in it. You will therefore pay tax on that at whatever tax band you fall into , for example if basic rate, it would be 3,170 x 20% = £634 to pay.
Note if your use of the van is solely to commute to or from work there is an additional concession, but without knowing your circumstances that may not apply. The mileage covered is irrelevant.

    - there is a fixed charge where private use fuel is paid by the employer and the same principle applies. the 16/17 rate being £598 so x 20% = £119.60 to pay
