Sofa buying difficulty

Hey everyone
I've been looking at getting a new sofa as the one we have had for 5 years from Harveys is falling apart. We are basically sitting on springs on one side.
I've been doing some research and the pessimistic side of me is telling me that I can't trust any chain (I know a few are a given).
I was chatting to someone a few days ago from sofology and I did get a good vibe from them and they also happen to have my favourite sofa so far. However, they are supposedly on a non commission basis but he was very keen to get me to place an order which is putting me off somewhat. He also said the leather with the sofa was cat 55 and that's one of the best but I'm not 100% sure that's true.
I enquired about the price and was told they can't do anything but if I'm spending 4K, they're throwing in delivery and the leather kit as a minimum!!!
Can anyone advise where else I should look or advice on sofology? I'm after a big corner sofa in black leather. It needs to withstand the wrath of a 2 year old.
Much appreciated.

Have a look at this, which may be helpful (especially the post from a former employee on the 'no commission' bit): https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/Reviews/Sofology-Reviews-E971948.htmGoogling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0

I'd never thought to check that site. Good tip not just for this but for future purchases too.
I suspected there was some commission element because of him being overly keen for me to buy or put something down there and then. But then it was his first day so maybe that's part of it.
That said, commission certainly doesn't make them a bad company, it's just I need to factor it in with how much I trust what they say. I prefer to do my own research so will look into more reviews on them.
Any advices on sofa retailers in the Stratford upon Avon area is welcomed. I'm ruling out dfs, Harveys and scs at this point though. Furniture village have a nice one but it's an online only model. I'm not prepared to wait 10 weeks to find out I don't like it.
Thanks again all0 -
I would be surprised if there isn't a quality independent furniture store in the area.
Look for a store which sells Stressless, Duresta, G plan or alternatively have a look at Multiyork.0 -
Thanks Davey. I guess it's just the issue of separating the good from the bad independents. More than happy to check them out though.
Do you know what those brands tend to retail at? Having looked for stockists I've not found any that give any indication of price. I'm looking for a 6 seater corner sofa.0 -
You might think about corner sofa, It is many better solution. Majority of corner sofas have sleeping function, so might substitute plain sofa.0
