E: 31/08 Win a luxury break in the Lake District

Sunday Times Where Was I? competition

The prize:

The winner and a guest will stay for three nights, B&B, at the Forest Side, in Grasmere — the Lake District’s newest luxury hotel. This grand neogothic house has its roots firmly planted in Cumbrian soil. Inside, there are Herdwick wool carpets and dining tables made in Kendal, while the kitchen garden is home to 100 varieties of vegetable and 25 kinds of herb. The head chef, Kevin Tickle, hails from the Cumbrian coast, and the restaurant is the Best New Entry in The Good Food Guide 2017. One dinner for two (excluding wine) is included in the prize.

Grasmere is in the middle of the Lake District National Park, and almost everything is within easy striking distance: hair-raising walks on Striding Edge, steamer trips on Windermere and pints of Esthwaite Bitter at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel.

The prize must be taken before December 20, 2016, subject to availability.
