It's all going wrong

I'm having a real sh1tty time of it at the moment and last night just finished me off.

End of July I set up my DMP with Payplan and also opened up a new bank account with Halifax as one of my creditors is my previous bank. Halifax were so slow and the account has only just been finished! After many phone calls and rants at them. I've set up the S/O to Payplan and hopefully, if Halifax get their act together, it should come out at the end of this month once I've been paid.

I also found out I was pregnant at that time and was worried about the debt stuff and how we were going to cope. As it turned out I lost it and have spent the last few weeks a complete mess not knowing if I'm coming or going.

Anyway, Egg have been writing to me demanding payment. I wrote back and said (again) that I'm setting up a DMP and they would be paid but please be patient. Then the losing the pregnancy kicked off and I kind of let things slip.

Monday, I find out I'm pregnant again and have been worrying in case something happens to this one too. I emailed my case officer at Payplan to inform them but have not heard anything.

So last night I get a knock on the door and an agent from Moorcroft is standing there asking for payment for the egg debt! I've not seen any correspondence from them regarding the debt or the fact that they were sending someone round, only letters from egg asking for payment.

I tried calling payplan last night but they were closed (my case officer's part of it) and I have been in a right state ever since. My poor OH is at a loss as I've just been balling my eyes out ever since - not good for me or the baby.

What can I do? Whats likely to happen? I'm so scared. I emailed my case officer last night after trying to call and will call them as soon as I can but I'm at work with other people sat all round me so will have to wait til lunchtime unless I can sneak out.

    Hello knotty29

Welcome to mse. I'm afraid I don't know anything about dmps, but just wanted to post to support you, let you know that people are here connecting with you.

The stress you're under is horrendous, of course - but don't worry about crying about it. I'm sure that letting yourself have a cry when you're feeling so bad can only be a good thing, and I'm pretty sure there's been research done to support that (analysing the tears, of all things).

Best of luck with that phone call today, hope you can sneak out during the morning

Moorcroft can't do very much except ask you for payment and just generally be a pain in the bum.

They may make threats regarding court etc... but they can't take any action that is going to cause any serious problems. It is all bluff and bluster to try and make you pay more. DONT pay Moorcroft/Egg anything directly.

Payplan have this to say on their website if they start making those types of threat (which they probably will):

    http://www.payplan.com/frequently-asked-questions/debt-management-plans.php#Ccj

Talk to Payplan later who see this all the time.

Most of all, please don't worry since Payplan see this all the time and know what to do/say/write to them. :)

  • Thank you Karmacat, much appreciated.
  • Thank you Fermi. I'm going to have a read of that link you posted.

Can they issue a CCJ or anything or are they just glorified bully boys?

Is there any chance you can go off sick today? If it means that you can deal with things in an easier environment which in turn will be better for the prospects of the pregnancy, then it would be a genuine and valid reason to go home, in my opinion.

Good luck with making that phone call x

I hope you get it sorted im sure you will.
id be inclined to go home sick myself, say you have a headache and obviously cannot take medication at the moment, so your only solution is to go home to bed.
it will make you feel calmer i am sure.
    take care x

They could apply to the court for one, but as Payplan will point out it would be pointless. You could apply to the court to pay by instalments at much the same rate that they get from Payplan. They often hold it as a threat over your head, but rarely go through with it.

The most important thing is to get Payplan on the case.

It's scary now (especially after a home visit by the idiots at Moorcroft) but it will be OK. :)

Sorry to hear about losing the baby but great news on being pregnant again.

You are right stress is not good for you or the baby.

You are working with payplan and make sure all creditors know that you will only deal with they through your case officer.

I know it is easy for me to say but they can't take what you don't have. If you have no assets and no house there is not a lot they can do.

You, your baby and OH comes first everyone else comes very much second.

    All the best.

    Yours

  • I was considering going off sick, but work don't know I'm pregnant yet. Didn't want to tell them until at least I've had my scan to make sure its all ok. Also, I'm likely to just sit at home and worry where as at work I have stuff that I can do (like come on here) to take my mind off worrying.

Other than our house, I don't have anything else. OH bought most of the furniture in the house and our TV is so old it would only be worth £5. My car belongs to the company so they can't take that.

If our house was to be sold, after paying all the early repayment fee's etc it would only be worth about £2k more than we owe so hopefully there isn't enough in it for them to force me to sell it.
  • I'm very sorry to hear of all you are going through.

I can really relate as when I was first pregnant I lost my job and was so stressed worrying about losing my house.

But my baby was absolutely fine!

Please try not to worry, as your baby is all important now and everything else is not worth worrying about in comparison, but also be reassured that any stressing you have done already is unlikely to have harmed your baby.

People also told me that my daughter would be a crying anxious baby, as I had been so stressed, but she is the most contented child imaginable!!

Sorry I can't offer any help on the financial stuff though.
