So, it appears my root canal treatment I had done a few years ago is infected, discovered by a reoccurring spot (no pain but infection is large). I'm on a course of antibiotics now and the dentist is going to see me in a fortnight but the three options were extraction, do nothing but the infection is likely to come back again or be referred to a specialist who will need to sort out the root canal and then likely to do a crown. My dentist said that if he does thr referral I'm probably looking St upwards of £900.
I don't want an extraction as it is on a lower molar and it would be visible and it got me thinking about researching options for dental treatment abroad. Has anyone done this and what is a good starting point?

This is a guide produced by the GDC. Gives an idea of the pitfalls to avoid.

I wouldn't have thought you'd save a lot on a root filling once all the travel costs are taken into account. If an emergency should arise once you're back home - then it would work out much dearer getting back to see the dentist. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0
