Good Morning fellow DFW Peeps and welcome old timers and newbies alike :hello:
TGI Friday !!!!!
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
So, today I will:

- get 3 things listed on ebay (STILL didn't to it yesterday)
- check online banking
- not increase my debt in any way
- update my business accounts
- be positive

This thread's quiet today! Hopefully everyone's been out saving/making money!
I had a day off today - a novelty as for the past 2 years I've temped and have had poor holiday allowances/ways to accrue it and so whenever I've taken holiday I've really really needed it for something particular. But I've been tired this week and OH was taking the car to be service so I'd of had to get the bus and walk to work so I had a day off (sorry for my rambling
)
Anyway I've had a really productive day:
Car was fine :T:T and we'd budgeted £20 more than it was so we've got a bit more of a reserve in our 'annual spends' fund and as it was in a separate pot I'll put the money back in our current account when they take the money :j
Whilst he was out I printed the flylady list for the week off having removed the things that aren't relavant to us. Then I started in the kitchen and I've done most things - started in the living room now.
I've also:
Done 2 loads of washing and hung them both outside to dry
All our houseplants needed repotting but by using a couple of spare pots from old plants in the garage and moving pots between plants we didn't have to go and buy any new ones and hopefully they'll all be happy in their new bigger pots
Done clicks etc but not spent too long wasting time on the computer (not that MSE is a waste of time but it is a distraction )
Had a storecupboard lunch
Went to the local town and renewed 1 library book and got 4 more - much better than buying books.
Went and opened a new regular savings account as we've got some money coming to us each month (long story) and we want to save it away so we can't spend it.
Only bought what we went into town for (and managed to get the bread we needed half price in somerfields)
Picked up a somerfield free magazine with some nice looking recipes in it.
Finished a cross stitch Christmas card - another one for the pile
I'll have to have days off more often - feel pretty positive now (sorry for the long post )Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
Initial Mortgage free date - January 2058
Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98
