Froze ready made chicken dish that says don't freeze

Without checking I froze an Aldi chilled Chicken with leek and cheese gratin, now notice it says don't freeze, dare I eat it if I cook it really well or is it too risky?

Comments

  • Defrost it thoroughly first in the fridge, then ensure it is properly cooked through - it is unlikely to kill you.

You could check the packaging to see if it says it was previously frozen, as then it might be less advisable to do the above, but at a guess, it probably just won't have as nice a texture or the sauce may split.

Interesting to know hope I am not butting in but I put a few of those supermarket soups in a plastic container in freezer last week as got them reduced and noticed when I took one out it said not suitable for freezing.

Its just chicken and rice in it (or should I say perhaps about one or two chicken chunks at most and almost all rice)

There is no a reaction in freezing a meal that will make it turn poisonous, as long as it is reheated thoroughly it is safe.
The reason some meals aren't classed as suitable for freezing is that they might "spoil" in the sense that they look unappetising (ie. A sauce might separate) or become a bit mushy after defrosting.

    Hope this helps!
