Would love to add a Comp but cant :(

Options
Hello :)

My partner has his own business and as of yesterday he has secured deals with some big companies including Harrods to give away their products for brand awareness and traffic, the upside of this being he can give them away in competitions, however I am unable to post the link to this months competition which is a really nice hamper, money off vouchers and Eco-friendly cleaning products, I joined in Jan of this year but it says I'm still a new user, I'd love to get this comp up, as I'm on here every day and love the community, please help, or if someone could post it for me that would be amazing!.

Thank you

Imo x

It would be self-promotion so not allowed anyway.

Why was my post about my company/site/blog/offer deleted?
MoneySavingExpert.com is a free site - you cannot pay to buy advertising space - one of the reasons why so many people use it! Equally, you're not allowed to advertise any goods, services and/or companies anywhere on the forum, or through private messages, no matter how honourable your intentions.

'Advertising' includes touting for business; asking people to contact you; posting e-mail addresses which indicate a web address; linking to sites or blogs you or friends are involved with (whether you’re selling something or not); or linking to your eBay or other auction sales.
All posts which we consider to be advertising will be removed where reported.
Users are allowed links in profile pages, but please don't mention them in your posts or signature in any way.
If you continue to advertise on the forum, your permission to post on the forum will also be removed
  • So anyone else can post the competition if they find it, but the ones who set it up can't as it would be seen as self promotion ?

That doesn't seem fair, but who am I to argue, thank you for the replies, I will look for an alternative forum to post the comp on :)

    Thanks

    That is correct
As it would create traffic to your website creating you an income

It would also break the rules for anyone to post on your behalf.
  • I'm not going to argue as those are the rules, but just so you know, it wasn't to drive traffic to our page, we don't need it, it was to get page likes for those that donated, we only facilitate the competition, but thank you again for the replies :)
  • That's a shame as surely we would be missing out on Competitions? Perhaps a new thread for small businesses to share their comps could be a nice work around?

Just because something is a competition is no reason to break the forum rules on advertising - if advertising were allowed it would cost considerably more than most competition prizes are worth.

(there are other sites which allow it, some for a fee)

Trouble is, this site is HUGE. People forget just how big! If everyone was allowed to add comps from their businesses or places of work, the comp board would be flooded and then every other company would get in on the act and offer a comp. Then what? A minimum prize? You see comps for a tenner voucher with over 1k who have say retweeted or hit the thanks button. They'd all just come on here giving away a keyring, a tenner, or a mug and get free publicity and traffic.

There'd be millions of 'em!
