I'd go with Cerne Abbas Giant.

    "I think I hear thunder,but plainly it isn’t."
People have theorised that it's supposed to be Hercules, who is the son of Zeus who is the god of thunder.

"I see concrete evidence that history has been tampered with"
A 1996 study found that some features have changed over time, concluding that the figure originally held a cloak in its left arm and stood over a disembodied head.

"and I didn’t need a tent for the camp behind me"
There's a ruin type thing at the top of the hill, I dunno if that was a roman camp or something at some point.

On an addenum, it does say "How to enter

If you can figure out our ‘where was I?’ puzzle, then simply complete the form below."

but I didn't register to see if it was a required field or anything to put in an answer

Thanks sleepyjones but I would probably go for Westbury White Horse

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=westbury+white+horse&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiLpZrnnN3OAhXGPBoKHVHsALEQ_AUICSgC&biw=1366&bih=643#imgrc=5mQHDUUctXsQDM%3A

    "I think I hear thunder,but plainly it isn’t."
Possible gunfire from the nearby Imber Ranges, part of Salisbury Plain army training area.

"I see concrete evidence that history has been tampered with"
Not sure but the "horse" is concrete and it is thought that the image was changed in the 18th Century and may have even originally faced the other way .

"and I didn’t need a tent for the camp behind me"
The whole hillfort is known as Bratton Camp.
    Still cracking on....
