Been paid nothing on my last payslip

    That will be where the week in hand comes in. They will have paid you for the whole of July in your July payment, the whole of June in your June payment etc.

    It really depends on how your employer pays - some employers pay fully in arrears (in which case your pay on 22nd was for the work up to 22nd), but some pay towards the end of the month for that full month (in which case your page on 22nd was for the entire month of July).

    If the latter is the case, then you have been correctly paid. You were paid in July for the whole of July; and your pay for August has been negated by the fact that you owe them a week's pay for holiday already taken but to which you were not entitled.
