Credit reports

Hi Folks,

I hope this is the right place to post (being as I wannabe debt free) :)

My question relates to credit reports. I have signed up for the free CreditExpert report from Experian and have found a few older debts that I forgot I had, but have not been chased for?!?.

Now being as I checked that with just Experian might there be other marks against me with other credit checking companies i.e. Equifax or would my Experian report reflect all outstanding debts againsed me?

If it is the former I will sign up with Equifax's free trial service and see what else I have against me.

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

R.

PS: If a debt is marked on my credit record as Satisfied (even though it was a Partial Settlement) are the company abliged to remove the entry from my credit report?

Different banks/organisations report to and check different agencies, so yes the information held by each can vary significantly.

There is a list of who supposedly uses which agency here:

Experian is the most widely used, but for the most complete picture (as far as you can get that from the CRF's) you should check all 3 CRAs if possible.

If the company has issued a default on the account, that stays on the CRF for 6 years whether or not the account is then satisfied/settled (partially or fully).
