W10 created PDF won't open on ipad

Yesterday, for the very first time, I created a PDF file on my W10 laptop and it worked (to my surprise), on other windows devices, but someone told me it wouldn't open on their ipad. I googled and apparently there are issues that prevent it with apple stuff. Is there a way round it please?

Can't answer your question sorry, but maybe a bit more info would be good.

How did you actually <<I created a PDF file on my W10 laptop>>

You must have typed something into something to create something which you saved as something.

    Am I correct?

    :)

The laptop (W10) came with a three month "word" "gift", but rather than use it, elected to install the free Libre Office and after creating something for sharing on a FB site, I clicked on FILE, scrolled down to Create PDF file then placed on desktop for easy access. When required, I copied/pasted it. It opens on anyone using windows, but not ipad.

I have to go out soon, so may not see your reply till later, it's not that you are being ignored.

Just had a quick look and don't think so. Were I to install one, presumably I would be able to read my pdf, but what about others viewing via their ipad, they wouldn't either, that is unless they too installed something?.

If that's what the problem is then obviously the solution is to install something that can open .pdf files. I'm sure there will be free viewers available if there isn't one there by default. Seems like a non-issue really.

Doesn't iBooks allow you to open PDFs? If they press and hold the PDF from the email they should be able to add it to iBooks.

I have this problem a lot, If i create pdf files in libreoffice my boss can't open it on her mac. If I create pdf in another program she has no problem opening it. So I've always presumed it's a libreoffice problem.

Will take note of what you say and if the post after yours dosent help, will look for an alternative, but your post is very helpful, thanks.
