Mean comp tactic on FB page

Options
They gave the winner just 30 mins to respond then re-drew the comp. Nowhere did they warn of this in advance.

It's a good idea to make people return to the page but they need to set it out at the start of the competition

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I entered for the festival tickets. All of a sudden I had a notification the winner had only 10 mins left to claim , I quickly checked fb and tw to see who it was but they hadn't actually announced a name anywhere. So they started the comp again and ran it for an hour then they announced a winner from that. Think it's not a good company to follow and enter as it's all run so badly

I saw the same thread, it does seem really mean, we are not always able to pick up our notifications all the time, but it's not as bad as another I saw yesterday, it was a holiday to the Canaries, where the winner didn't claim in time, and the prize was re-advertised with her name tagged on the FB posting x

That is terrible! People could be at work, out shopping, on holiday! Not everyone is attached to their facebook 24 hours a day! Stupid rule!
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea
  • I remember when I got home from work once and checked my emails straight away (like you do) and there was one telling me I had won something and had to claim by 5pm and it was 4.55 pm at the time. Did I claim in time? Damn right I did. I have a cut and paste thank you and here are my details ready for just such occasions. I got the distinct impression they had been hoping I'd fail to respond in time. I don't remember what it was, nothing big. But it was a point of principle. I think I would have ASA'd them if I hadn't responded in time. It's really not an acceptable way to run a competition.

Their problem is they didn't state it at the outset, if they want to give 30 mins or less to claim as part of the competition they can (radio phone ins where they announce a name nearly always give an hour or less).

I agree. If I saw a comp with those terms I probably wouldn't enter but it would be fair enough to those that did. But throwing it out when announcing the winner was low. And the original entry instructions must have been taken as part of the T & C so a sudden 'like to win off' must constititute an unacceptable change.
