Of cource, it doesn't cancel another advices.
In your case, employeer has approved and invited at interview. In my case, employeer haven't seen my CV yet. This fact make me think...
I imagine that some employers may ask for this at the start of the process to cut down on wasted time by inviting people in for interview who can't provide relevant UK documents.0 -
No recruitment agency I know of would allow you even to register with them without providing proof (original docs) that you are legally entitled to work here. That's register with them, before they even consider sending your CV to any potential employer. They would not be doing their job if they did not require this. They take the original passport/whatever, photocopy it in front of you and return it within minutes. How else are they to know they are not sending an illegal immigrant for interview? They would be failing in their duty to their clients - the employers, not you - to say nothing of breaking the law.0

Definitely a good idea to establish up front your right to work in the UK: we recently shortlisted for a temporary job and had one applicant with a visa expiring before the contract's due to end. They are 'in the process of applying' for a different sort of visa, but until they have that other kind of visa in their hand, we're not interested as it would be hugely disruptive to start someone, train them up, and then find they have to leave and we'd be back at square one.Signature removed for peace of mind0
