It was the case for both National and London property. You can see it by looking at the standard uk house price chart. When the magic wand was waved about by central bankers, prices increased rapidly.
The housing market is broken, it's a ATM for central bankers now. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

There are many for various reasons cannot buy. Despite the Government schemes, low interest rates etc. Buying up stock in itself isn't a business plan. That concept comes from the UK's obsession with property as an investment.0 -
I agree Thrugelmir. The good business plan was abit of sarcasm lol. The central bankers will get their big black magic wand again and move it around in circles. The magic will be some sort of direct helicopter money for the property market. Who knows. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Landlords only bid on behalf of tenants.
Some tenants want or need to live 4-6 to a house they don't buy together like that as well no one buys a house as 6 pepple so a landlord buys and forms this HMO which can be high quality and low price due to sharing bills/rent. This is a good supply of additional bedrooms.
Some tenants are locked out of the mortgage market because middle class regulators are happy to set up the system so these working class can't bid. Without self cert they have no choice to rent and the landlord provides this
Some tenants need to rent. Students or those who need to rent a house closer to work for weekdays (they may own their home but rent a small flat or room temporarily)
The majority of private rentals are these HMO types. Either fully HMO (where the landlord rents by the room) or 'virtual' HMOs where a group of friends rent together from the landlord. In no way does this force a would be owner to be a renter. If anything these private rentals add to supply pushing down rents and prices.0 -

No direct money. Totally the reverse. The air is being very slowly engineered out of the balloon.0
