Credit Scores & Mortgages

I've just got my credit score from Experian - it comes in at a rather depressing Fair.
How much will this affect my chances of getting a mortgage (give the way things are changing)?
& how can I get it higher?

"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

What was the (completely arbitary) score they gave you? 960/1000? I just ask because just about everyone I know scores that....Mortgage debt - [STRIKE]£8,811.47 [/STRIKE] Paid off!0 -
870 actually
Just been reading the stuff here - I suppose I should get on the electoral role & stop moving every 18 months."Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.

Electoral role is definately a big help - you need to make yourself visible on the non-restricted version (I know it sucks - you can either have a good credit score or privacy, not both). Do you have a landline? Thats also a help.Mortgage debt - [STRIKE]£8,811.47 [/STRIKE] Paid off!0

YOu should have no problems - some of my clients with scores of 400 have got high street deals, so I can't see why you would be any different with that scoreI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
