Advice please?????

Hi. Hope everyone is OK today? I am new to this forum.

Between my wife and I we have managed to knock up almost £28,000 worth of debit over a period of approx 7 years.

I am sad to say that all of this is credit card debt. However, I am pleased to say that I have not had my head in the sand as I have been able to get some of this on 0% cards, but the rest (approx £11,000) is still on 15%apr interest.

Is there anyone in the same kind of position and how have you approached the problem of trying to become a debt free wannabe?

Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks

drew

    Hiya Drew!

Well done on scoring some 0% cards. :T That was one of the biggies that worked wonders for us. (£60k down, and £35k to go!)

I also recommend the snowball calculator to help you pay off your debts in the most efficient, fastest and cheapest way possible. (It's a revelation!)

My number one tip is to post an SOA so that all the clued up cookies on here can help you to find more cash to throw at your debts and get straight even faster.

Our Debt Free Date when everything would be paid off - so long as we didn't increase our debts - was originally 2028  and now it's 2010 - and I'm working on moving that even closer as I know there's still room for improvement in our budget. :o

Our lightbulb moment started in August 2006. but it didn't reach full luminosity until June 2007 when I joined this forum. (It was like a low energy bulb: it took a while to come on properly! :D )

We changed some some big things - and changed some small things that added up to big things - but most of all we changed the way we think.

We thought that Sky tv with movies and sports, a car each, a mobile phone each, disposable contact lenses, £100 p/m gym membership, pedicures, takeaway meals cos we're too strssed and too knackered to cook, M&S food for "treats", £60 down the pub every Friday night and £200 in Waitrose every Saturday morning etc were just the basic necessities of life.

It turns out that we do just fine without all that!

    Who'd have thunk it?? :D
