Rental Product Problems

I'm not sure if this is the correct area to post this wasn't sure where abouts to post it. Basically when me and my partner moved into a house we couldn't afford kitchen electronic goods outright so we rented a washing machine, dryer and fridge freezer from brighthouse and a dishwasher from dial a tv these were all rented in my name. Due to various reasons we split and I had to to leave the property in rather a hurry. I went back to collect my stuff but due to me being technically homeless at this point I couldn't take the items with me. I cancelled my agreements with the companys for them to collect the items but my ex was refusing to let them in and kept promising to change the products into their name. This never happened and despite me pleading with them to collect them they couldn't do anything. About a month ago I found out by pure luck through searching for something on selling sites that he had the brighthouse items up for sale and had presumably sold them. I told brighthouse about this and showed them proof and they were very understanding. They told me they would take my number off the system and sort it out. Yet I've only just seen through looking at my phone history their still trying to contact me everyday from the head office despite what they'd said in the store. I've now found out today that he is now also selling the dishwasher from dial a TV. I did contact dial a TV a while ago when he was selling the other things but they weren't so helpful. My question is what can I do about this, what steps can I actually take to resolve this? I know some people might say it's my own fault for leaving the products there in the first place but at the time I didn't really have a choice and went down the correct avenues to get them returned. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Not really a lot you can do in this situation.

You should write to the companies involved detailing what has happened, no good speaking to store staff, you need to deal with the organ grinder, not the monkey.

Ask them if, due to the circumstances, they will either, write off your debt, or allow you to pay a sum monthly, to clear any outstanding balance.

I suggest you do this sooner rather than later, to avoid having to deal with any 3rd party debt collectors.
