in Gone off!
I saw these whilst looking along the instant coffee aisle earlier this evening. They come in a variety of flavours, eg hazelnut, vanilla, chocolate orange, cinder toffee etc. As far as I can see are flavouring only added to the coffee, no sugar. This is great for me as sugar and all its manufactured derivatives (such as flavoured syrups) are now off the menu for me.
The sting is that they cost about £3 per small (50g) jar. I'm not sure why I'm reluctant to part with the cash given that I treat myself to a coffee out at least 4 times a week
. Has anyone tried them?

Some flavours inevitably taste better than others, but that's often down to personal preference. Douwe Egberts flavoured coffees are consistently good but not the cheapest and limited to 3 flavours. We discovered a brand called beanies (only seen it in waitrose so far but also available online). They have a wider range of flavours and come in bigger jars than DE.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

I've never seen them, but you can get all sorts of different flavoured tea bags. So why not coffee ?Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Love the DE hazelnut one but I've not really been keen on the beanies ones. Found they left quite a dry, almost powdery sensation in my mouth
If you go for sweetener, TK Maxx sell sugar free coffee syrups, the caramel one is nice with hazelnut coffeeBossymoo

It was the Douwe and Beanies I was looking at. Have just looked at Mysupermarket and it seems the DE hazelnut flavour (my preferred!) is on offer at £1.47 in Tesco until the end of the month. I'm happy to make the investment.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Too late for now but info for later?........I managed to get a Christmas gift set containing 4 of the Beanies for a quarter of usual price in one of the garden centres in January sales. I think the best-before-date is next Feb so could have even used it for this Christmas

I thought I would report back my findings!
I popped into an Extra store and had to hunt for the hazelnut flavour (green packaging), just 3 left behind a load of the caramel flabour. It smelled great when I first made it, tasted lovely hot - hazelnutty but not sweet - but as it cooled down started to taste odd, sort of powdery and bitter, and not pleasant!
I'll give it another chance tomorrow before writing it off completely.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I've had a try of the hazlenut DE coffee thanks to this thread and I'm really enjoying it. I find most coffee too bitter, but not this one. I may have to stock up while the Tesco offer is on. My store had them with the hot chocolate and not the coffee in case anyone is struggling to find themBlessed are the vegetarians.0

Ok, so my second try was with my mum and sister. (Not planned, they just thought the bottle looked interesting and helped themselves).
Verdict: they loved it - but they drank it HOT. I take a big mug (400ml) and so whilst I enjoy the first half hot, the second is generally less so. As it cools down, the flavour changes considerably and starts to taste bitter and leaves my mouth feeling dry. Yuk.
I shall stick to my usual DE Gold.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

i tried these also but they really arent as nice as they smell (unfortunately)
i tried the chocolate, hazelnut and caramel and the hazelnut is definitely the nicest and the chocolate the least so.When you know better you do better0 -
I am a fan of Beanies coffees...The flavours are subtle, but delicious.
I wouldn't buy fro a supermarket...there are better deals to be found online.
If you want to try Beanies - go to their official site - they offer more flavours than are available in the supermarket, and sometimes have special offers.
I currently have the maple/walnut ground coffee....and cinnamon/hazel-nut in an instant.....and choc/orange and amaretto in decaff instant....and a list of other flavours on my to-try list.
I take my coffee unsweetened and love that these are sugar free.0
