Serving notice

Hi guys,
When you serving one month notice what happens if you serve it and end date is weekend?
Does employer have to pay you upto that date regardless of it been a weekend?
My contract wording says one month not 4 weeks so my expectation is to be paid until that day.
Lets say i handed my notice on 1st and 1st of next month is sunday.
Should i be paid for sat and sunday eventhough it is a weekend?

Permenant and receive salary
Notice served on 4th so end date is 4th Sept but employer is saying it is 2nd Sept
Re agreed they are saying 2nd which doesn't sound right as I should be paid until 4th I think0 -
Check with them that you will receive a full months salary, minus any holiday pay you owe or plus and holiday pay not taken.It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

Notice begins the day after it is issued.
During the notice period you should work and be paid in exactly the same way as if your employment was continuing. Holiday continues to accrue.
If your employer does not want you to work in the normal way during your notice period they still have to pay you in full. They can however insist you use up any outstanding holiday entitlement during the notice period.0 -
If your notice ends on a Sunday but your last working day was the Friday before, then you left on the Friday. So in that your employer is correct.
If you are paid monthly and your employer is working out your final salary based on days in the month (rather than working days in the month) this might mean you lose out. As long as your employer is consistent in applying their own rules there is little you can do about it.
If your normal working week ends on a Sunday and you give your notice up to Sunday you should be paid up to Sunday even if your employer's week ends on a Friday or Saturday. You do need to check your contract on this. IE. I always tell people I work Thurs to Sunday but my contract says I work Sunday, Thurs, Fri and Sat, which is different.

My contract says monday to friday but at the same time it says one month notice.
I thought this will mean i should be paid until 4th regardless but thanks for clarifying0 -
If you normally work Monday to Friday, then it won't make any difference whether your leave date falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If your normal monthly salary is for a whole month, then you'll get your August salary, and then (probably at the end of September) you'll get Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd September's pay. Since you don't normally work on a Saturday or Sunday, you won't get four days pay!Signature removed for peace of mind0
