You took out a policy in 2011 as the after effects of the credit crunch were still present, followed by various economic issues and have go £1.2k profit on your investment. Unless you invested a million quid, it seems Halifax offer very good advice.

Going for a low risk investment produces low returns, if anything you benefited from being in the more risky fund!

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I won't be doing anything, other than move my money to another investment - with better advise than the Halifax can offer.
Seems to me you got excellent advice, given your investment has grown steadily in the last three years despite a worldwide recession.

The Bank's only real "mistake" was sending you a letter inviting you to complain if you wanted to. When they did this they weren't telling you it was definitely mis-sold, they were simply protecting themselves from any retrospective complaint you might make in the future.

Unfortunately this led to you mistakenly believing "compensation" was due to you for some reason even though you have suffered no loss!

Do please realise that PPI redress is simply a refund of the amount paid with (generous) interest. No actual "compensation" is paid. In this case, you are not due a refund or compensation of any kind.
