Hi all
Im new to this so please bear with me.
I have just bought a house with my fiancé, have a 2 year old son and work full time.
I have a terrible Credit rating (1 CCJ) and am looking ways to improve this.
I have 2 credit cards both not in arrears, one is for £200 and one is for £1200.
I pay minimum balance on one and my other one is with my bank and the direct debit is minimum balance, I don’t know how to change this so I can pay little bit more than minimum balance as per Martin’s thread on Credit Cards. Anyone know how to do this?
Anyone know of any way to bring some extra money in etc?
Ive visited the freebie board a few times and had some cool things.
Any help would be fantastic
Thank you

Set up standing orders to pay extra off each month.....
Ebay or car booting for extra money......
Post an SOA (see Southern Scouser's first timer's post for help) and we can help you trim your household budget too!
By the way, welcome! :hello:0 -
Have a look at the Home Page to see how paying 'minimum balance' can actually create debt.
Normally, you can pay extra simply by presenting your card, and payment, at your bank.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

You don't have to tell your bank you're paying more, you just pay it. Either by presenting the card at the bank or transferring online. If you want to make a regular overpayment, set up a standing order each month. Call your bank to do this.
As for making extra money, you can sign up for things like mystery shopping (there are threads on this), take on a part-time job in your area (pub work etc), sell things on ebay. You'd be amazed at what sells, go through your house and list everything that you don't use anymore. Or do a car boot sale one weekend. The possibilities are endless!0
