are you elible for a tax refund?

hi guys

ive just checked and im not due for a tax refund, however most people are so apologies if this has already been posted but im sure all you dfws could do with a tax rebate!!

im in the process of doing it for my mum as she has being paying emergency tax this year.

they have some hefty charges though! 18% plus surcharges and £15 for each special request for income tax.

I'd say just send your last P60 and P45 to your local tax office... for the price of a stamp.

I'VE JUST CHECKED THIS OUT, IT SAID I WAS DUE A POTENTIAL REFUND, SO I FILLED IN MYDETAILS AND WHEN YOU GO TO DOWNLOAD THE CLAIM PACK, IT STATES THAT THEY TAKE A PERCENTAGE OF YOUR REFUND, SO PERSONALLY I'D STEER CLEAR.

i'M SURE THAT YOU CAN WRITE TO HM REVENUES & CUSTOMS AND THEY CAN CHECK AND SEE IF YOU ARE DUE A REFUND.

Why on earth would you use a company that takes a percentage of your refund when Revenue and Customs will tell you if you're eligible for free?! Or you could even use the self-assessment form online and find out for yourself....

ive already filled in the form for the claim pack for my mum!!!! ive just read the emails they sent out, low commission my a**e!!! sorry guys, i wasnt aware of this, its actually on the inland revenues site so i thought it would be legit
Im worried now, what can they do now? as long as my mum doesnt fill out the claim pack they cant do anything right???:mad:

It is legit, it's not dodgy - it's just that you're paying them to fill in the forms and claim the refund when you could do it all yourself and keep all the money!

I'd assume that just sending away for a pack doesn't commit you to anything. Ring them up and cancel the pack if you're worried. Until your mum has signed anything, I'd think that nothing is committed to.
