How long for a default to appear on credit file

Hi everyone

Hope someone can help with this.

I've been on a DMP since 2007, due to be paid off next year. One of my debts is with Tesco Credit cards but 2 weeks ago Tesco sent a letter to say it had been sold to HPH and managed by Robinson Way, a second letter arrived last week from Robinson Way saying the same.

My question is, if HPH/RW decide to issue a default against this account (I know they shouldn't but it happened to me a few years ago with another debt sold to a DCA), how long would it take to appear on my credit file?

I've just applied for a 1 month free trial with CheckMyFile, the Tesco debt isn't listed at all but there is an 'enquiry' listed in the search history for Robinson Way on 2nd August, I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Thanks
