I had a feeling the quoted post was going to be from you Katy! But you are the exception rather than the rule and as you say it's about much more than just surveys and you have worked at it for years.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter, I know how much she must mean to you xx

Thank you - 7 long years of waiting! She is almost 5 months old now and doing well despite us both having a few health problems since she was born.

Glad to see you're still here and on the online bandwagon :)

    Really?

Have you actually read the entire thread (you know, where someone who does this actually explains how), or have you just read the OP and hit reply?

Id say that surveys are worth the time, but I don't think they're worth the time to do them all day.

Today, I did a survey on Panelbase for about 20 minutes, then I got a message telling me that I've been screened out because they already have sufficient responses from other people in my profile. According to the bar, I was about 80% through the survey at that point.

This is what makes surveys seem like a waste of time. And btw, Panelbase is one of the highly rated and best paying survey sites.

Feel that someone should say thanks to you Katy for coming and explaining how you do it, as always helpful and friendly. You've helped me make a lot more money over the years.

You are so welcome! I love knowing that I am helping people. Not all of the ways that I make money are instantly open to everyone, however, I try to help where I can.

I don't always just write about posts where I can earn myself a referral commission or where I can directly profit. I like to offer people lots of options. Surveys, market research and the like are not for everyone, however, if I can help someone even just increase their home life a little, have a holiday, buy a second hand car, then I'm genuinely so happy.

When I stopped working about 4 years ago, due to ill health, I was really worried about how I would still be able to contribute to my family. I never imagined that my hard work would pay off in the way that it has. Sometimes I get nasty messages, usually from 'new' accounts or random email addresses, criticising me for 'bragging' or whatever, but who doesn't brag a little when their hard work pays off?

Whether I help someone make £10 extra or £1000 extra it is still helping that person improve their life and their hard work is what is ultimately achieving that. It is easy for people to be dismissive of my ways to make money, and often people are surprised that I can buy new items, pay for holidays and save for a mortgage free life one day, all from surveys and the like.

With regards to the person who asked about surveys I agree - don't be sitting doing surveys all day! Personally I let my surveys come in over 1 or 2 days, sometimes more now as I'm busy with other avenues of moneymaking, and then I spend maybe 1-1.5 hours doing them. I don't spend a lot of time on them anymore and I find that doing them en masse, in one little burst of boredom, is well worth it. Yes, some surveys will have closed, but at the same time I can have a few windows open at once, work through them, cut down on the time spent and also avoid disqualifications for being too speedy. It works for me :)

  • Most of this is all down to how much time you actually put into it, if you think you will get rich by doing "easy" surveys and such things then you will not manage to make much. It is actually hard work and at times very frustrating but like most things if you set your mind to it you can achieve your goals.

From what I have seen on this forum there are plenty of people that offer so much advise and explain how they are making money which to some is a very personal thing; so if these sort of people want to help then I would grab a chair and listen closely.

I have tried quite a few different methods but I have a normal day job and at the moment trying to get my blog /website established again all down to how much work you put into these sort of things.
Nothing comes for free and nothing is easy in life.

Absolutely, hard work and eventually you will get some decent results.

Set yourself a realistic goal - so mine is £75 for MB and surveys (so £150 together) a month. I budget for that, every month I tend to smash that target, but all that extra is then bonus money. :)

So true - I work a lot of hours sometimes, as much as you can when you don't want to ignore your baby while they are awake, and my hard work pays off. It isn't always easy to find moneymaking online but if you have the motivation you can do it.

Also, with regards to the other poster who said about setting realistic aims this is so true. I move my goals every few months but I once started aiming for £50, then £75, then £100 a week!
