The 1719 from Milton Keynes leaves Euston at 1646. The online portals sell an Off-Peak ticket if Euston is the origin (correctly IMO as 1646 is after 1630), but a Super Off-Peak is Milton Keynes is the origin (incorrectly in my opinion as 1719 is after 1630 for the origin station on the ticket).

At the end of the day, it's just my opinion/interpretation, but I think the ticket machine at Milton Keynes is "correct" and the online sales portals are wrong.

Practically if you wanted to continue to use the cheaper fare I would take an online printout/itinerary with you if possible; you may find this eventually gets fixed in any case (they tend to when out in the open on forums such as this) and almost certainly would if you complained.

The whole fares system is just a mess really :-)

A possibility is that the machine is setup to provide the 'most popular' tickets on the first screen.

Coz as we all know the more expensive the ticket is the more popular it is :rotfl:

One year on, the same train is advertised as "super off-peak" on every website I've seen that sells tickets.

Yesterday the guard told me that my ticket wasn't valid for that train but they were aware of a glitch in the online pricing for that train so my ticket would be accepted but I should be aware that once fixed, I should start buying an off peak ticket.

I'm pretty sure the operator have been aware all along as my SOP ticket has always been accepted by the guard without question.
