Can anyone tell me if they have experience of either of these, what it was like, how it affected you?

There is info on the National Debtline site at:
http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/scotland/factsheet.php?page=21_trust_deeds
and on Scottish Debtline (Scottish equivalent of CCCS) at
http://www.scottishdebtline.co.uk/faqs/faqintro.htm (info and links towards the bottom of the page).
There is also a whole forum section on the following site dedicated to 'Debt in Scotland' since the law differs from the rest of the UK in many ways.

Trust Deeds are frequently discussed there (in fact normally the main topic of questions.)Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
