Self cert mortgage?

Just wondering if I am going to have to go for one of these or not.

I will be looking to buy in the near future for the first time - looking in the 180-200k region with around 20% deposit. Problem is I am a contractor (operating under my own limited company) with just 1 years accounts, although it is a pretty secure job and income is predicatable. Will mortgage lenders give me a standard mortgage under these circumstances or will I have to go for self cert (which I imagine will be more expensive?) ?

  • You should be able to get a mainstream mortgage without needing to self cert as long as income is high enough. Contact a fees free broker.
